Not waiting for the perfect moment, but seizing opportunities as they come. At Brightnewday , young engineers are given the space to grow themselves and their technology: right on the floor, straight from life.
Learning entrepreneurship as an engineer
In this case, two Bright Innovators tell how their project at Wemo customization not only challenged them technically, but also allowed them to grow as professionals. What started as a technical assignment became a story of spotting opportunities, taking responsibility and making a difference together with the client. The technology? Complex. The context? Dynamic. But with the right attitude, guidance and freedom, it grew into a success story for the customer and themselves.
Bright Innovators take initiative first
Wemo's internal engineering team was fine but the team needed more challenge to grow. What innovations could they come up with? What new technology would make them more competitive? The project was challenging from day one. A customer with a lot of ambition, but also a lot of ambiguity. Technical requirements changed along the way. Expectations were high, but the frameworks were still vague. In such an environment, it's easy to wait for someone else to decide. But that's not how Bright Innovators work.
Making mistakes is the best way to learn quickly
They stepped forward. Made proposals, asked smart questions, observed what was missing and filled in. Instead of just executing, they took responsibility. Brightnewday gave them the backing to do just that. "We were allowed to make mistakes, if we learned from them. That space gave confidence." Technology became a tool for growth. So the system evolved, but so did the people around it. Brightnewday not only created capacity but also filled the challenge at Wemo. That is exactly where Brightnewday excels: not only with production solutions but also with knowledge and challenge for the customer.
Ping pong with engineers
The project gained momentum. Thanks to their input, various processes were accelerated, optimized, or redefined. The client appreciated their proactivity and gave them more responsibility. The engineers became sparring partners for Wemo rather than mere executors. And in the meantime, they grew internally: from junior to mid-level, from technician to initiator. Yet this project also confirmed their role as dedicated engineers. Both colleagues shaped this project themselves, literally spread their wings, and surpassed themselves.
Everything can always be better
One of them saw that a critical part in the process was causing delays every time. He analyzed the flow, talked to operators and suggested a new approach. The effect? Fewer errors, more efficiency, satisfied employees. And it simply started with daring to say, "I think this can be done better."
We grow in our jobs and as people
"You know what makes the difference? That you feel: my input counts here," says one of them. "At Brightnewday , they trust you to take on your role, but they never let you swim. That balance makes you grow. Technically and as a person." Engineers work best when they step outside their comfort zone.
Brightnewday in one case? Absolutely.
This story is the essence of Brightnewday: entrepreneurial (we take initiative and create opportunities), warm (we give trust as well as support), pure (we are honest about what works and what doesn't), and expert (we combine technical insight with people skills and decisiveness).
